Sea View SC, ESIC score narrow 2-1 victories
Mumbai: Sea View SC and ESIC (Employees State Insurance Corporation), scored identical 2-1 victories against Young Guns, Bandra and Carmelites SC respectively in First Division matches of the Mumbai District Football Association League 2016-2017, and played under lights played at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel late on Monday evening.
In a lively and well-contested encounter, Sea View dominated play against Young Guns and took the lead through Tejas Bhagayatkar’s goal in the 22nd minute before Gana Prasad Akula added the second in the 35th minute. Young Guns reduced the deficit with Tarag Manjrekar scoring in the 40th minute.
Earlier, ESIC enjoyed the better of the exchanges and against the run of play, their consistent scorer Egypsio Norohna found the back of the net in the 33rd minute to give his team a slender 1-0 halftime lead. After switching ends Kartik Bele increase ESIC’s lead by finding success in the 67th minute. Carmelites scored late in the game through Sumit Devkar.
Results – Div-I: Sea View SC 2 (Tejas Bhagayatkar 22nd, Gana Prasad Akula 35th) beat Young Guns, Bandra 1 (Tarang Manjrekar 40th).
ESIC 2 (Egypsio Noronha 33rd, Kartik Bele 67th) beat Carmelites SC 1 (Sumit Devkar 80th).
