Rizvi Ceramics and Xavier’s Boys moves to round of 8

Rizvi Ceramics roll over Miners FC and Xavier’s Boys drew against JSW Steels in the 2nd Division playoffs while Veera United and Mumbai Warriors ‘B’ win their respective matches in the 3rd Division of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) held at the MSSA ground on 17th April 2017.

Rizvi Ceramics 3-0 Miners FC
Rizvi Ceramics dominated Miners FC throughout the game as they got off to a perfect start when Aakash Saxena put them ahead in the 5th minute. Rizvi’s Danish then scored a brace and killed the game off as Rizvi Ceramics won 3-0. with this, they are through to the quarter-final with table top tag.

JSW Steels 1-1 Xavier’s Boys
Xavier’s Boys took the lead in the game early on as Agnelo Fernandes scored on the 12th-minute mark. Xavier’s Boys then tried to hold on to the lead as JSW Steels piled pressure on them and the pressure finally became too much when Dilip Sahani levelled things up in the 59th minute. With a win and a draw, they gather 4 points to made themselves to see in the quarter-finals, whereas JSW steels too have 4 points from 3 matches but due to less goal average they are now out of the competition.
3rd Division – Group H
Mumbai Warriors ‘B’ 1-0 Pioneer FC
The first half went by fast as both teams played some great football creating chances but not taking them. But in the second half, Mumbai Warriors’ captain Ivan Reddy took the first chance they got and scored in the 36th minute.

Veera United 2-0 FC Mumbaikar
In the other Group H match, Veera United smothered FC Mumbaikar as they dominated the possession throughout the game and limited the opposition’s chances while taking theirs. They scored two quick goals at an important juncture of the game making it impossible for FC Mumbaikar to comeback.
