PIFA Director Anjali Shah appointed on AIFF Women’s committee

Mumbai, March 26: Premier India Football Academy (PIFA) Anjali Shah has been appointed to the AIFF Women’s Committee during AIFF’s Executive Committee Meeting which was held at Football House, the AIFF Headquarters, New Delhi on 23 March 2017.

This is a memorable day for her & PIFA. Anjali has been the Maharashtra State team manager on several occasions in the past and is working for the development of women’s football in India. She has been the driving force of the “Girls Get Going” project which is a project that encourages girls to participate in sports and mentors them to stick with the program whereby empowering them mentally, socially and physically as part of this project she got Hyatt on board for the Silver Swans program that delivered training to underprivileged girls in the Colaba, Mumbai.

PIFA has developed several state players and two girls for the Indian National youth teams namely Natasha Merchant played for the India U-14 girls team that won the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) under-14 Girls’ Football Festival held in Sri Lanka in 2009 and Kunashni Parikh is India’s Goalkeeper & Vice Captain for India U-16 national team she played the  AFC U-16 Women’s Championship qualifiers held in Jordan, in 2010.

She believes that the Indian Women’s football team with the right impetus have a very good chance to qualify for the World Cup in the near future. She would like to see a strong woman’s’ league at city all the way to national level.
