MDFA: 3rd Division Round-up of 03-04-2017 at MSSA Ground
Mumbai: Nau Nehal, Mother Teresa & Mumbai FC register crucial wins in the 3rd Division of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) matches held at MSSA ground on 3rd April 2017.
3rd Division – Group D
Nau Nehal FC 1-0 Shelar FC
The game off to slow start as both teams were getting the feel of the ball and trying hard not to lose the possession. But Nau Nehal struck just before the end of the first half as Shanawaz Shaikh scored a brilliant goal. They then defended their lead vigorously as Shelar came at them hard and held on to win 1-0.
3rd Division – Group E
Mother Teresa FC 2-1 IFC
IFC got off to a wonderful start as Amit Sarawde scored on the 13th-minute mark. But IFC couldn’t take the lead into the halftime as Situ Jose struck for Mother Teresa a minute before the halftime making it 1-1. Joymal Almeida then made it 2-1 to Mother Teresa as they continued their momentum in the second half.
3rd Division – Group H
The Sports Gurukul 0-1 Mumbai FC
The chances started flowing right from the word go in this game but the strikers failed to capitalise on it and both the keepers made some wonderful saves to keep the score 0-0 at halftime. In the second half, Sports Gurukul couldn’t withstand the pressure put on them by Mumbai FC as the finally gave in on the 49th-minute mark as Zimik Kamgampam scored for Mumbai FC. Mumbai FC held on to the slender lead of 1-0 for the rest of the game.
