MDFA 2nd Division: Shastri Nagar smash 8 goals over hapless Poinsur Gymkhana
In a one sided games, Shastri Nagar and ICL U-19 squad thrashed their opponents with a 8-1 and 5-0 win over Poinsur Gymkhana and Hearts FC respectively
The day started with a high scoring one-sided game where Shastri Nagar hammering eight past Poinsur Gymkhana. John Ferreira opened the scoring in the 10th minute strike which was followed by a Nikhil Singh’s 25th strike doubling the lead. Four minutes before half-time, Ferreira made it 3-0 with a clean finish. However at the stroke of 35th minute, Poinsur pulled one back through Shubham Pawar but seconds later a quick attack ended in Stane Varghese slotting home the fourth goal for his side as both teams entered the break. In the second half, Sohan Chauhan made it 5-0 before Nazim Khan added the sixth in the 51st minute. Five minutes later Joh Ferreira completed his hat-trick with his third goal of the day as the score read 7-1. However, Kuldeep Bisht sneaked in a injury time goal to make it 8-1 moments before full time whistle.
Game 1: Poinsur Gymkhana 1 (Shubham Pawar 35’) – 8 Shastri Nagar FC (John Ferreira 10, 31’, 56’, Nikhil Singh 25’, Stane Varghese 35+1’, Sohan Chauhan 47’, Nazim Khan 51’, Kuldeep Bisht 70+1’)
In the second game, Lakers FC faced Naunihal FC with the former picking up a 4-1 victory. Rupesh Shetty scored a brace while Ronaldo Fernandes chipped in between and Anshul Gawade scored in the last minute to make it 4-1 win with Athar Ansari being the only goal scorer for Naunihal FC.
Game 2: Lakers FC 4 (Rupesh Shetty 28’, 45’, Ronaldo Fernandes 38’, Anshul Gawade 70’) – 1 Naunihal FC (Athar Ansari 52’)
In the third game, Vision Rescue played out a goal less draw with SRS Sporting with neither side managing to sneak in to opponent’s goal.
Game 3: Vision Rescue 0 – 0 SRS Sporting
In a final group F fixture of the day, ICL U-19 smashed five goals past a hapless Hearts FC to start of the campaign with a win. Alfred Palan struck the opening three goals to make it 3-0 before Sharad Nasiba and Hemant Patil add one each to finish the game with a comprehensive 5-0 margin.
