Celebrity Clasico 2017: Kohli led All Hearts thrashed All Stars 7-3
MS Dhoni struck a brace while Kohli, Dhawan and Ranbir Kapoor were on the score sheet too in an exhibition match held for a charity between Bollywood stars and Sports persons
Despite the heavy rains in the lead up to the game, thousands of people still managed to throng the stadium for the exhibition football game between Bollywood stars and Sportsperson. This was not a game for football lovers but it was a game for the numerous fans of Bollywood stars and cricketers, yet there were couple of moments in there which would have impressed the All Hearts coach and Indian National football team captain Sunil Chhetri, One of which is a spectacularly hit curling free-kick from Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Arguably the biggest star on the pitch the crowd roared whenever he came on the pitch or touched the ball. The game began sluggishly but MS Dhoni’s Fifth minute strike from outside the box opened the floodgates. Despite some good possession from All Hearts, Ranbir almost equalised in the 25th minute but his long range effort hit the crossbar and came back into play which was then easily cleared. Almost at the half hour mark, All hearts won a free-kick as the crowd chanted ‘Dhoni – Dhoni’ the former India captain struck a brilliant free-kick to make it 2-0. Soon Aniruddha Srikanth headed in a Virat’s well taken corner to make it 3-0 however All hearts immediately pulled one back through Shabbir to make it 3-1 in to the break. The rolling substitutions were a bit of a help as the players got some time to cool themselves off.
Second half began with All Hearts winning a dubious penalty early on and despite the Crowd wanting Dhoni to take it, Anirudh Srikanth took the shot and converted it to make the score 4-1. Soon at the other, Ranbir Kapoor clinically finished off a great through ball from the midfield to make it 4-2. few minutes later, Manish Pandey produced one of the best moments of the game with a super run beating couple of defenders before laying off to Kedar Jadhav who hit the net only to be caught offside. However, minutes later Kedar pounced on an rebound opportunity to make it 5-2 after Virat’s shot was parried into his way.
After All Stars pulled another one back through Aadhar, Virat Kohli got himself on the score sheet with an sublime finish. A late penalty was easily converted by Shikhar Dhawan as the game ended at 7-3 scoreline.
Mark Robinson was given the Golden Glove award while crowd favourite MS Dhoni received the Man of the Match award much to the delight of fans. Both Abhishek Bachchan and Virat Kohli thanked NBA Player Satnam Singh for the gracing the game while Indian Football team Captain Sunil Chhetri received special thanks and good luck from Abhishek Bachchan.
