MDFA 2nd Division: Sagar SC overcome Das FA to win 3-1
In an entertaining group A fixture, Sagar Sports Club overcame a sturdy Das Football academy to win 3-1 in 2nd Division MDFA
With both teams playing their first game of the season in a Group A fixture an exciting game was on cards as they looked to start off on a high. The intent was quite evident as both teams started with end-to-end football and soon the first goal came in the 13th minute when Vishal Bellani found the net to put Das Football Academy in to 1-0 lead. Going goal down Sagar SC ventured in to attack more looking for equaliser and soon were rewarded in the 26th minute when Allwyn Madurai’s goal brought things in to level terms. Both sides entered the break at 1-1 score line.
The second half began with both teams continuing their attacking intent, Das FA’s no. 7 Yash Agre got himself booked in the process. Five minutes later in the 47th minute, Yogendra Meher’s shot found the net as the game rolled towards Sagar SC, who took a 2-1 lead. Das FA looked to get back in to the game while Sagar SC looked to hold on to their lead. In the closing moments of the game, Sagar SC players put bodies on the line to protect the lead with Harshal Meher picking up a yellow card for a foul in the 66th minute. However, in the injury time Substitute Mahesh Pendhare struck a final nail in the coffin to settle the game in favour of Sagar SC as the game ended at 3-1.
With the win, Sagar SC opened their 2nd division campaign with all 3 points and third position in group A table.
