Kenkre FC split points with Lonestar Kashmir in 1-1 draw

Mumbai, April 19: Kenkre FC and Lonestar Kashmir FC were engaged in a determined battle, but finally settled for a draw and a division of two points from their Second Division I-League (final round) match and played under floodlights at the Cooperage ground on Tuesday night.

Both teams slugged it out and tried their best to take control and dominate the proceedings, and as a result, the fare dished out was lively and it turned out to an even contest. There were quite a number of opportunities for either team but unfortunately, there were just two goals scored in the match.

The visiting Kashmir team went ahead when their French striker Alexandre Tabillon rocked the Kenkre goal in the 11th minute of the match. The home team was not disheartened and put up a strong fight and in the 26th referee, Umesh Bora awarded Kenkre a penalty after the Kashmir skipper and defender made a professional foul inside the area. Sampath Kumar Kuttymani coolly converted sending goalkeeper Harpreet Singh the wrong way.

Thereafter, the two sides continued to attack and tried their best to score another goal which proved elusive and the teams had to settle for a draw.

Kenkre FC will next take on Southern Samity FC, Kolkata in the fourth round match on Saturday, April 22.

Results: Kenkre FC 1 (Sampath Kumar Kuttymani 27-pen) drew with Lonestar Kashmir FC 1 (Alexandre Tabillon 11th).
