Karnatak SC shoots down Udaya SC to conquer AR Kudroli Memorial Tournament

Karnatak SC

7th January: Karnatak SC faced Udaya S.C in the final of 10th Late Adv. A.R Kudroli Memorial Knockout Football Tournament at KSA ground on Saturday evening. In what turned out to be a nail-biting finale, Karnatak SC held their nerves to defeat Udaya S.C 5-4 in penalties to lift the title.

The final started on a positive note with an end-to-end game. Both the sides managed to create chances but couldn’t deliver the final blow to break the deadlock.

However, Udaya S.C got a big opportunity to take the lead after they were awarded a penalty in the first-half. Mohith Gatty stepped up and couldn’t manage to convert from the spot as both the sides went into the break with scores even.

Apart from Mohith, his teammate Calvin Pereira also missed big opportunities which could have done the job for Udaya SC in the normal time itself.

Minus his failure from the spot kick, Mohith had a fantastic match as he kept creating problems for Karnatak SC. The host stayed calm and intact as the match headed towards the penalty shootout.

In the penalties, Mohith who had immense confident converted his spot kick alongside Oliver Castelino, Mikhail Ribeiro, and Jayesh Naik.

Calvin Pereira failed to convert his penalty which gave Karnatak SC a golden opportunity to win the title. All five penalties were converted by Karnatak SC (Adnan Yalgar, Lawrence Betgeri, Dinesh Pawar, Akshay Pawar, and Sagar Shetty) as they lifted the prestigious trophy.
