‘Clinical’ Mumbai Muslims prevail over Century Rayon

Mumbai Muslims

Mumbai: A good day at the office for Mumbai Muslims who beat Century Rayon 2-0 in the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA), Super Division match held at St Xavier’s ground in Parel.

It was the Mumbai Muslims side who started the better of the two and had the first real in the 10th minute of the game. Muddasir Ansari did well to cut in from the right, beat his defender and took a shot only for the Century Rayon keeper to pull out a good diving save.

It was Jiten Koli who gave the Muslims the lead in the 17th minute. A wonder strike from 20 yards that went straight in with the keeper having no chance. Later on, Mumbai Muslims kept penetrating the Rayon defence but could not convert any chance.

Century Rayon themselves had a fair amount of possession but failed to do anything significant with it. Lack of conversion did really hurt them. The game became fast paced and an end-to-end game towards the end of the first half with no side converting their chances. It remained 1-0 at halftime.

In the second half, Century Rayon was hot on the heels of the Mumbai Muslims looking for the equaliser. But the Mumbai Muslims showed great character in defence standing firm in their way, not allowing any clear cut opportunities.  In the 95th minute, deep into injury time, Rushikesh Koli double the advantage for the Muslims to seal the victory and walk away with three points.

For the Century Rayon side, they will be looking to analyse a bit of their final third play and looking to get back better in the next match.
