Bank of India and Intelenet register thumping wins

10th December 2017, Mumbai: On Sunday, a total of two matches were played in the MDFA – Mumbai District Football Association Super Division at Goan Sports Association Ground, Churchgate. Bank of India (BOI) and Intelenet Global registered thumping victories in what was a goals-galore to kick-start their Super Division campaign in style. Here is the round-up of the matches played on Sunday:

Group B – Intelenet Global 6-0 West Zone United

The first match of the day saw Intelenet Global playing their first match of the campaign against a side who had lost their opening game. West Zone United struggled to match Intelenet’s superiority as they suffered a second straight defeat after going down 6-0 in a Group B encounter.

Gabriel Nadar gave Intelenet the start they had wished for after breaking the deadlock in the 11th minute itself. Bosco Pereira who had an incredible match soon doubled the lead nine minutes later to increase Intelenet’s lead by two goals. West Zone was not able to stop Intelenet’s clinical and pacy attack.

Things got worse from bad when Aman Jangid made it 3-0 at the stroke of half-time. Intelenet was all over West Zone United. The second-half saw Bosco and Aman adding a goal each with Prince Kantaliya also managing to get on the scoresheet in a resounding 6-0 win.

Group C – Bank of India (BOI) 5-0 Soccer XI

The second and final match of the day saw Bank of India (BOI) producing a brilliant attacking display to comprehensively register a whopping 5-0 win over Soccer XI in a Group C clash at Goans. Bank of India (BOI) has been quite synonyms in Mumbai Football over the years and yesterday they proved it with a stellar performance.

Charles Fernandes got off the mark for BOI in the 19th minute with a sweet strike past Soccer XI’s custodian before former KSA’s attacking midfielder Shailesh Jadhav increased BOI’s lead after a brilliant penalty in the 36th minute. Bank of India’s experienced and organised defense stood strong and composed at the back to keep Soccer XI’s attack at bay.

Charles bagged his brace at the stroke of half-time to put the game beyond any doubt in the first-half itself. Shailesh and Alvito Gomez added the fourth and fifth goal respectively in the second-half to give Bank of India all three points in their opening game.
