10 men Wellingdon Catholic Gym edge past St. Joseph

7th February 2017, Mumbai: Wellingdon Catholic Gymkhana players held their nerves back together to defend well a 1-0 lead against St. Joseph in a First Division MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association), Group C fixture at St. Xavier’s Ground Parel.

The game started well in the afternoon as both the teams charged up well on both the ends to find something creative to be registered on the cards but failed to do so until half time.

None other than two yellow cards were registered one each for Diptiman Prusty from the Gymkhana and Reynold Murzello from the opponent side.

A horrifying moment for the Wellingdon side as Shanol Jacinto was shown a straight red for a silly foul on the opponent player but the team managed well to overcome it as they scored a goal deep in the second half that well deservedly helped them to grab all three points of the game.

St. Joseph with an advantage of an extra man tried really hard to get back in the game but the leading side sat tight deep in their own half to defend it well.

All credit goes to the defenders of Gymkhana as they showed no room for errors against St. Joseph who were just above in points are know 2 points behind.

Wellingdon Gym has now won three from six games overall that have earned them 9 points along with St. Joseph on the other side earned themselves just 7 points out of 7 games.
