Young Guns overcomes PIFA Colaba U-19

On the 10th of November 2016, Young Guns produced a fine performance to see off PIFA Colaba U-19 2-0 in the First Division of MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) at St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel.

Abhir Kadrekar and Salil Karpe got on the score sheet to cause an upset against a spirited and energetic PIFA Colaba side.

PIFA Colaba U-19 started on a bright side, Nagesh Swami’s side looked sharp and organised for the majority of the match. They could have scored a couple of goals but their poor finishing turned out to cost them three vital points.

Previously, PIFA Colaba snatched a 1-1 draw against Mumbai FC U-17 after producing a disciplined and gritty performance. Ranjan Tamang’s superb left-footed strike late in the match salvaged a draw last time around, unfortunately, they couldn’t emulate the same performance against Young Guns.

Akash C. Jadhav, Akash Jadhav, Reshon Sam, had a fine game for PIFA Colaba. The breakthrough came in the 27th minute when Abhir Kadrekar scored from a brilliant counter to put Young Guns in front.

Young Guns went into the break with a solitary lead. In the second-half, Salil Karpe’s goal soon made it 2-0 after a sublime strike straight into the back of the net which gave Young Guns a massive advantage to snatch all three points.

Young Guns’ backline produced a brilliant defensive display after taking a 2-0 lead which proved to be a wall in front of PIFA Colaba’s attackers.

The boys in blue held on to their two goals lead to complete a respectable 2-0 victory.
