Too tough a test for Oberoi as Desperados S.C. come-out victorious 5-0

Desperados Soccer Club scored 5 goals past an under-firing Oberoi with goals from Dipen Bari, Tanuj Meher, Jatin Meher and a brace from Aman Sheikh sealed maximum points. In group ‘A’, hosts Desperados Soccer Club entertained Oberoi on Monday, 1st February 2016 in the Mumbai District Football Association division I match at St. Xavier’s ground. An early goal from Dipen Bari in the 7th minute gave Desperado S.C. a head-start as they marched-onto record a resounding 5-0 victory.
In the initial moments, the match was an open affair, but Desperados soon took hold of the on-goings, and 10 minutes into the game, Dipen Bari scored to give his side an early-lead in the 7th minute, calmly converting in from an one-on-one opportunity. With a goal in their bag, Desperado S.C. extended their lead in the 13th minute as Aman Sheikh slotted the ball into the right-side of the goal from inside the 18-yard-box. A third goal and second goal from Aman Sheikh in the 27th minute from gave Oberoi a mountain of a task to climb.
As the game crossed the 30th minute mark, it appeared obvious, which side turned-out on the positive side of matters as Desperados Soocer Club found themselves in complete control of the proceedings, creating chances at will with a three-goal cushion and an urge to add to their tally of goals.
Meanwhile, Oberoi were finding it tricky to handle the wave of attacks from Desperados S.C. and lacked imagination upfront; on the other hand, Desperados S.C. found it easy to defend against a side, which lacked real intent individually and collectively while attacking. For Oberoi, who lacked proper midfield and attacking options to create chances, it remained an up-hill task to turn-around a three-goal deficit going in the half-time break.
The second-half started-off brightly for Oberoi, who looked to have found a little rhythm going up-front as they dominated the play in the opening-minutes of the second-half. They recorded a hatful of attempts on targets and enjoyed their finest spell of the match in the process, but a failure to trouble the Desperados S.C. goal meant, the early scare proved to be a false dawn.
Two more goals followed from Tanuj Meher and Jatin Meher in the 52nd and 62nd minute, respectively as Desperados S.C. strengthened their grip in the game. By the time, referee Clement D’Melo blew the full-time whistle, a fine all-round individual and team performance had helped DesperadosSoccer Club top Oberoi by 5 goals without reply.
