Tarique Ansari’s late strike helps KSA snatch a win against Mumbai Customs

Karnataka Sporting Association (KSA) snatched a late 1-0 with over Mumbai Customs thanks to a 93rd minute goal from Tarique Ansari. The game saw little goal mouth action and looked set to be a drab goalless draw before KSA grabbed the late winner.

KSA began the game on the front foot and had Mumbai Customs pinned in their own half. Forward Michael Idewele had a good chance to open the scoring early on when he fired into the side netting before Mumbai Customs’ Rinaldo Fernandes missed a golden chance to put his side into the lead after going through on goal.

The first half ended goalless with KSA edging the game in terms of possession.

The second half was more of the same as both teams grew increasingly frustrated at the lack of clear cut opportunities.

Mumbai Customs had to take off injured goalkeeper Lihaz Koya post the hour mark and the substitute goalkeeper seemed slightly out of sorts and he was caught in no man’s land while to clear the danger when Tarique Ansari beat him to the ball and toe poked the ball into the back of the net to hand KSA the win.

There will be no Elite Division matches at this venue for the next two days.

Results – Elite Div: Karnatak Sporting Association 1 (Tarique Ansari 90+3rd) beat Mumbai Customs 0.
