Spartans overcomes ICL ‘B’ in First Division

21st November 2016: ICL ‘B’ met Spartans in MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) First Divison Group D clash at St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel. In a tight contest, Spartans ran out as winners after a 2-0 victory over their counterpart to end their poor run of results.

Rohit Phodtre and Varun who were among the best players on the field notched up a goal each to complete a fine victory over ICL ‘B’.

Spartans came into the match in hope to take their season back on the track as they have been struggling lately with a poor run of form. The Spartants has already suffered defeat at the hands of St. Paul’s, and a 1-1 draw against ESIC where they had to settle only for a point despite dominating for the major part of the game.

ICL ‘B’ who is also struggling this season is yet to find their form and yesterday it just got worse. Rohit Phodtre scored a fantastic goal to put Spartans in front after a great build-up which left ICL’s backline with no answer.

After coming close numerous times in the second-half, Spartans finally put the match to bed when Varun scored a sublime goal to give his side an all important three points.
