Somaiya Vidyavihar played the trick as they held Mumbai FC – U17

Somaiya

Mumbai FC – U17 tried what they can do but Somaiya defended harder for a goalless draw earning them a point on 27th December 2016 kicked off at 4:00 pm at St Xavier’s Ground, Parel.

Almost the whole game saw yellow team Mumbai FC U – 17 dominating as they created plenty of chances to score but the men in black got on their nerves to hold them tight with the goalie Omkar Kulkarni also with some contribution as he saved plenty of one on one goals for the team in black ‘Somaiya‘.

Half time resulted in a 0-0 draw but the yellow team never gave up scoring as they resumed to play the second half with high attacking football, awarding themselves a free kick in the 43rd minute just outside the box taken by Rohan Shukla but was missed as the ball flew just over the bar.

To change things around Somaiya got the first change of the game getting Prashant Rawat in place of Mangesh Desai in the 51st minute.

Later to add some fresh legs in the attack Mumbai FC made two changes in the 60’s as they pulled out Abhishek Patil & Gaurav Bathija sending in Rabiul Shaikh & Gaurav Gawas but still wasn’t able to break the Somaiya defence.

The time wasting strategy earned Saurabh Salim Kumar the only yellow card of the game in the 70th minute.

In the dying minutes of the second half, a good chance for the black team was wasted by Himesh Mistry as he got on to strike a free kick from just outside the box which went far off wide from the post as it resulted in a 0-0 draw at the end.
