Round up: MSSA U16 – 10th August

A quick round up of all the fixtures that took place on both the grounds on Wednesday, August 10th in the Mumbai School Sports Association(MSSA) 2016-17 season.

MSSA Ground, Azad Maidan:

It was time for the boys U-16 knockouts as we move to the Azad Maidan for a round-up of all the results of the matches that took place on Wednesday.

With four pre quarters from the 3rd divison and three quaterfinals from the 2nd divison, Football Counter updates you on all the action.

The first of the pre- quarters saw R.N. PoddarSchool(CBSE)(SC) beat St. Theresa H.S. (Bandra) by 3-0 as Aryan Yadav scored a brace and Parikshit Bhandari getting the other.

In the 2nd pre quarter the St. Xavier’s Boys A.(Churchgate) had to battle it out in the penalties against a gritty Mancekji Cooper Edu.(Juhu) as the game finished 0-0 in the nomal time. The South Mumbai team won 4-2 on penalties.

In the next game, Lilavati Poddar Sr.Sec(ISC)(SC) beat Sacred Heart Boys Sch. (SC) by 2-0 as Akash Agarwal and Archit Kovilingam scored one each.
In the final pre quarter match, the NSS Hill Spring Int. Sch.(Tardeo) and Our Lady of Health (Sahar) couldn’t be seperated in normal time as the game ended 1-1 which demaded for a penalty shoot out where the Tardeo school ran out 4-3 winners as Hamza Shaikh scored the decisive penalty.

In the 2nd division quaterfinals Smt. R.S.B. Arya V.M. (Juhu) beat Antonio D’Souza H.S. (Byculla) 2-1 in a thriller of a match as Ishan Kapnadak scored a brace and made the difference for Smt. R.S.B. Arya V.M.

In the second quaterfinal match the Holy Family H.S.(Andheri) beat the St. Mary’s H.S. 1-0 as the Ayan Khan scored the solitary goal which enough for the Holy Fmaily H.S. to progress to the next round.
The last quaterfinal of the day saw the St. Lawrence H.S.(Borivali) beat the St.Anthony’s H.S. (Vakola) 2-0 as Diptiman Prusty and Risahr Koitan made all the difference for St. Lawrence H.S.

St Xavier’s Ground (Parel):

The 4th division boys U-16 group matches took place in Parel on Wednesday.

In the B group, Gurunanak H.S. (A)(Dadar) failed to turn up for their match against Yashodham H.S. (Goregaon E).
In group K, Vibgyor High(Goregaon) thrashed Grunanak H.S.(B) by 7-0 as Abhishek Yadav bagged four goals and Swayam Kumaran getting three.

In the last match, it was time for action in group G as ST. Arnold’s School (Andheri E) routed Fatima H.S. (Vidyavihar) 5-0 as Madan Ghogle and Sunil Shetty scored two each and Pratik Singh scored the other.
