MSSA Round-Up – 9th August, 2016

Tuesday, 9th August was a mixed day in terms of fixtures with the Azad Maidan having the bulk of them with 7 matches. Meanwhile St Xavier’s ground, Parel had a total of only three matches. Football Counter is at it once again for all you football fanatics around the world.

Azad Maidan:

Starting the day at the Azad Maidan there were 6 league matches from the 4th division and one knockout match from the 1st division that took place.

Boys U-16, 4th Division,Group C
IES Manik Vidya Mandir(ICSE)(Bandra) drew 0-0 against Rosary High School (Mazagaon).

Sharon English High School (Mulund W) won 2-0 against S.V.K.M.J.V Parekh Int(V.P). Jatin Mehta and Manish Shah were on target for the Sharon side.

Boys U-16 , 4th Division,Group D
Gundecha Education Academy (Kandivali E) edged Fazlani L’Aca Globale (Mazagaon) by 1-0 with Aryan Bagwe netting the winner.

Cardinal Graceas High School (Bnadra E) strolled past Saifi High School (Pydhoni) with a 3-0 scoreline. Jigar Devda was the hero for Cardinal side scoring a magnificent hattrick.

Boys U-16 , 4th Division,Group E
Holy Name High School (Colaba) registered an impressive 4-0 victory over Bunts Sangha’s S.M.Shetty Int School(Powai). There were four different goal scorers for Holy Name. Sitaram Rathod, Mitesh Baria, Geetesh Bhoir and Pratham Bhoir were on target.

Coming to the 1st Division knockout match, The Cathedral & John C (Fort) drew 1-1 against St Pius High School(A) (Mulund) in normal time. Anant Sawant scored for The Cathedral & John side while Joel D’Souza netted for St Pius X High School(A).

The match went into a penalty shootout with The Cathedral & John C team winning 3-0 as St Pius missed all three of their penalties. Siddhant Mehta, Leron Sammuels and Aryaman Bansali converted their penalties successfully to take their team into the next round.

That’s all from 9th August, Tuesday from the Azad Maidan. Moving on to the St Xaviers ground, Parel.

St. Xavier’s Ground (Parel):

Moving to the St Xavier’s ground in Parel a total of three matches were played all in the Boys U-16, 4th Division.

In the first match in Group A, Victoria High School (High School) thumped School of the Sacred Heart (Byculla) by 6-0. Chettiar Maurice and Joshuwa D’Souza scored a brace while Vidyasagar and Rodrigues Jason scored a goal each.

Moving on to the second match of the day in Group A, Sheth N.L High School (Malad) beat Pawar Public High School(Kandivali) by 5-2. Vivek Rajbhar managed to net a brace while Thakur Roshan, Satyam Jha and Somesh Yadav were the other scorers. Tanuj Shankarwar’s brace went in vain for Pawar Public High School.

The last match of the day saw Podar International School( IB & CIE) (Khar) draw 2-2 against Rajhans Vidyalaya (Andheri) in Group B. Moeen Shaikh scored a brace for Podar while Spandon Mukerjee was the savious for Rajhans Vidyalaya.
