A.R Kudroli Memorial Football Tournament set to go underway today

A.R Kudroli Memorial Football Tournament

On 26th November 2016, the 10th edition” of Late Adv. A.R. Kudroli Memorial Football Tournament, organised by KSA (Karnatak Sports Association), is set to go underway at the KSA Ground, Churchgate.

Back in December 2015, in the 9th edition of this knockout tournament saw Star of Canara SC lifting the title after defeating Jai Hind SC 2-1 and claimed the top honours at KSA Ground.

Star of Canara SC will surely aim to defend their title this time around and will further look forward to emulate the same performance as they did last season.

Oliver Bennis and Melwyn Vaz had scored one each in the first-half itself to put Star of Canara SC on the brink of a title win. Jai Hind SC did manage to pull one back in the second half through Ravi Rathod but it proved nothing more than a consolation goal as Star of Canara SC ran out as Champions of the 9th edition of A.R. Kudroli Memorial Knockout Football Tournament.

Star of Canara received the winner’s trophy and a cash award of Rs 25,000 from Chief Guest, Francis Fernandes, former Junior India and Central Railway player. While Jai Hind was presented with the runners-up trophy and a cash prize of Rs 20,000.

Current Mumbai FC’s recruit Kishan Sulegai (Karnatak SC) was named as the Best Goalkeeper, Savardhan Shetty (Udaya SC) – Best Defender, Valentine Pereira (Jai Bharat SC) – Beat Midfielder, and Melwyn Vaz (Star of Canara SC) – Best Forward of the Tournament.
