MDFA’s Republic Day Tournament!

With the 68th Republic Day on the way, the MDFA’s ‘Dr Neetu Mandke Memorial Cup‘ or also known as the MDFA’s Republic Cup Tournament is all in for preparation. This event is MDFA’s one of the two most ritualistic tournament the other one being ‘Independence Day Cup‘.
Where the Independence Day Cup is marked as the curtain raiser of MDFA season every year, Republic Day, on the other hand, adds more charisma during the ongoing MDFA Season’s League phase when the game has matured to its threshold and the city’s football at its peak not just for MDFA but also around the state and country with WIFA’s inter-district tournaments and AIFF’s I-league almost reaching towards the finale.
This year’s Republic Day Invitation Tournament‘s format, as well as the Rules and Regulations, are as follows:
A total of 32 teams will be locking horns against each other divided into two pools as the knockout tournament consisting 11-a-side with 25 mins each half will be played at the historical St Xavier’s football ground of Parel on the 24th, 25th and 26th of January 2017.
Based on early bird registration format, the invitational tournament will only allow 32 teams to participate.
8 teams from MDFA’s Super Division.
12 teams from MDFA’s First Division.
12 teams from MDFA’s Second Division.
To add more about the technicalities, the match will allow rolling substitutes and in the case of a draw, each team will be granted 3 tries during the tie-breaker after which there will be sudden death, with an addition of toss JustInCase!
Entry Fee: 2,000/- each team.
Prize:
Winner – 30,000/- and a trophy.
Runners up – 20,000/- and a trophy.
Best Player – 5,000/- and a trophy.
