Karnatak S.C book their place in the final of A.R Kudroli Memorial Football Tournament

24th December 2016: Karnatak S.C hosted Mangalore Blues S.C on the eve of Christmas in the first semi-final of 10th Late Adv. A.R Kudroli Memorial Knockout Football Tournament 2016. After an enthralling contest, both the sides cancelled each other out as the tie ended 2-2 which took the semi-final into penalties. Karnatak S.C held their nerves as they defeated Mangalore Blues S.C 7-6 in the shootout to book their berth in the final.

After a great start, Valentine Pereira opened the scoring for Karnatak S.C in the 15th minute to take a swift lead for his side. Mangalore S.C replied in their own way when Vimesh Salian equalised just before the half-an-hour mark after a brilliant counter-attacking move.

In the second-half, Karnatak S.C restored the parity as they took a 2-1 lead, but once again Mangalore S.C hit them hard as Lekhraj Kotian scored in the 56th minute. Both the sides created the number of chances in the dying stages of the match but couldn’t find the winner which took the match into penalties.

Lawrence Betgeri, Prakash Rathod, Adnan Yalgar, Valentine Pereira, and Sagar Salian converted their spot-kick for Karnatak S.C, whereas, Lekhraj Kotian, Brendon D’Souza, Roystan Vegas, and Aaron Machado scored for Mangalore Boys S.C as they felt an inch short to reach the final.
