MDFA U-14 Youth League – Day 10: Round-up

The Group Stages of MDFA U-14 Youth League finally had the last words on Sunday when it concluded with eight teams qualifying for the quarter-finals. A total of eight games were played at Lions Municipal Sports Complex (Santa Cruz) and Azad Maidan, MSSA.

Here is the Round-up of 13th November 2016:

Lions Municipal Sports Complex

Group D

In the opening game of Group D, Dadar XI ran out as winners after a comprehensive 2-0 victory over Mangesh Sports Academy at Lions Municipal Sports Complex. Tanmay Sawant, Rom Padelkar scored one each to complete a comfortable victory.

Phoenix Sports locked horns against Mumbai Warrior in the second game of the Group. A lone goal by Prince Bhahma proved to be enough for Phoenix Sports to register a win.

Adarsh Singh and Renonson D’Souza scored one each for Dadar XI.

Group C

In the opening match of Group C, Hegdenar Boys overcame Desperados 5-2 to end their group stage match on a winning note at Lions Municipal Sports Complex (Santa Cruz). Soham Shinire scored twice, Ammar Momin, Aditya Surve, and Jash Gandhi got one each.

In the second game, J.J Academy thumped KSP Hydro 15-0 to register a mammoth victory in their las group game. Three J.J Academy’s players scored a hat-trick or more. Kaushal Sawant and Pratik Vapalkry scored four goals, Eshan Kalia netted a fine hat-trick, and Eashan Acher (two goals), with Kunal Chauhan and Kaif Khan getting one each.

Azad Maidan, MSSA

Group H

In the opening game of Group H at Azad Maidan, Mumbai Strikers failed to turn up against Maurya F.C as the latter was awarded a 3-0 victory.

The second match between Sagar S.C and Grey Athletic ended in a 4-0 comprehensive win for Sagar S.C at Azad Maidan. Sunil Gaikwad struck twice, whereas, Anand Rathod, Nandan Mehta scored one each.

Group G

Shastri Nagar breeze past RCF 2-1 in the opening game of MDFA U-14 Youth League Group G match to end their group stage campaign on a positive note. Kushal Salunkhe scored a brace for Shastri Nagar, whereas, Sudhanshu scored the lone goal for RCF.

In the second game, ICL defeated Milan Football Academy 3-2 to register a narrow victory at Azad Maidan, MSSA. Yash Sanke, Saran Shetty, Parth Chavan scored one each for ICL, whereas, Raj Kamble, Ashely scored a piece for Milan Football Academy.

About MDFA Under-16 Youth League 2016 – The MDFA Under-14 Youth League 2016 is organised by the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA), promoted by the Sporting Lions and the Technical PartnersMumbai City FC has been kicked-off from 2nd November onwards at Lions Municipal Sports Complex and MSSA Azad Maidan with over 40 teams participating in this extravaganza tournament.

The 40 teams have been pooled in 8 groups with the top team from each group will progress to the quarter-finals. After the completion of the Youth League, the top 4 teams from this tournament will get a chance to play at the State-level Championship which is organised by WIFA (Westen India Football Association) as a part of the State Development Program.
