Kenkre take all three points in a mouth watering clash.

Kenkre U-16 boys were up against Rhema sports foundation in the 1st Division group ‘A’ clash, and the end to end action did not disappoint. A delayed start at the St.Xaviers ground just build up to the anxiety of both the teams as final set set of instructions were being delivered by the respective coaches.

Kenkre looked determined right from the onset of the game as they straight away put the pressure on Rhema defence, and the goalkeeper was called into the action very early in the game. Kenkre stayed upbeat and took the lead in the 3rd minute thru Sanathan Sgdhar. Fast attacks from wings and some good movement were a treat to the eye as Kenkre pressed all throughout to increase their lead but could not find the back of the net. Rhema held on their nerves to deny Kenkre any chance to double their lead. Rhema SF pushed hard for a equaliser but their attacks being cut down by the Kenkre’s pair of lanky center backs Marc Mendonca and William Chettiar. Kenkre went into the half time break with a 1-0 lead.

Kenkre picked up from where they left as they mounted attacks on the Rhema goal. Rhema SF had some strong pep talk in the break as they not only broke Kenkre attack but also started moving the ball well. An unnecessary brawl in the Rhema half was enough to break the concentration of the Kenkre lads as Rhema kept pressing into their attack and in the 65th minute yielded the result Rhema wanted. Kiran Jadhav making no mistake in slotting the ball into the far post. Kenkre 1-1 Rhema.

While all looked convinced that the teams will end up sharing the points, but the fate wand the grit of Kenkre boys wanted to tell a different story. Kenkre attacked with more vigor and a couple of fresh legs pounced on every loose ball that was available. In the 79th and the penultimate minute Kenkre broke the Rhema resistance in a beautiful fashion to split the defence as Tejas Tandel scored the winner for Kenkre. Couple of nasty challenges and a yellow card to Rhema goal scorer Kiran ended the game with Kenkre taking all 3 points from the outing.

Kenkre U-16 2-1 Rhema SF
