MDFA 3rd Division Round up – 4th April

On 4th April, 2013 five MDFA 3rd Division matches took place at St. Xaviers Ground, Parel. Alpha Football Academy played PD Hinduja, MTNL FC took on Kenturians, Freands FC faced off Labbaik FC, FC of Mumbaikars played Sea Siders and last but not the least Colaba FC locked horns against Boxers FC.
Boxers FC v/s Colaba
Among all the four matches Boxers FC versus Colaba FC stood at the top as the latter scored twice to overcome Boxers 2-0 in a highly intense game. Vandan Meher and Keval Pagdhare scored for Colaba FC to break the resilience of a gritty Boxers FC side.
The last 10 minutes of the game saw exchange of heated words among both the players and coaches which forced the Referee to book as many 11 players including two red cards. Dilley from Boxers and Keval Pagdhare both were shown marching orders in the dying minutes of the match. Both the set of players lost their cool and had a quarrel among themselves.
Devesh, Bhushan Patil, Karan Akri, Prashant Dhanu, Bhavesh Meher, Hitesh Meher and Sagar Tandel got away with the yellow card for Colaba FC whereas Dharmendra Singh and Faizal Shaikh got in the bad books for Boxers FC.
If Colaba’s coach Harshad wouldn’t have interfered the chaos would have continued. Referee Pravin Tambe showed only yellow cards to most of the players which actually went on to cool down the argument which turned out to be a good decision. Had he showed the red card it would have further increased the temperament of the players.
Alpha Football Academy 0-0 PD Hinduja
In a dull affair, Alpha Football Academy stood firmly on their gritty defense to hold PD Hinduja 0-0 in their 3rd Division clash. Sameer Syed and Ashfaque Baig came close for Alpha Football Academy but only managed to hit their effort wide off the post.
On the other end, Lokesh Tandel and Subash Dhawal proved to be PD Hinduja’s standout performers. Both the teams couldn’t capitalized on their chances which led to a dull draw.
MTNL FC 1-1 Kenturians FC
In a tightly even contest at St. Xaviers Ground, MTNL FC and Kenturians FC shared the spoils in their Group H match of 3rd Division. Kailash Damanvar opened the scoring on the 12th minute with a swift strike past MTNL’s goalkeeper Keshav Bhandari but early in the second-half Riyaz Thange leveled the score to share a point each.
FC of Mumbaikars 6-2 Sea Siders
A eight goals thriller between FC of Mumbaikars and Sea Siders took place in the 3rd division game where the former rushed past Sea Siders 6-2 which turned out to be a one sided affair.
James D’Souza netted a fine hat-trick, Noah D’Costa scored brace whereas Darius Quadros scored the other goal. It was surely a great moment for James whose hat-trick helped his side to register a memorable win.
Freands FC 3-0 Labbaik FC
Early goals from Ketan Rathod and a second-half strike from Janak Thakkur registered Freands FC a comprehensive win over Labbaik FC.
It took Ketan just 3 minutes to open the scoring and he soon scored his second of the match on 17th minute with a fabulous goal to give Freands FC an early 2-0 lead. Janak then produced a moment of magic to put the final nail in the coffin.
