M.S.Police march into the MDFA Super Division play-off final with a 3-1 win over Dena Bank

Maharashtra State Police marched into the final of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) , Super Division playoff by beating Dena Bank in the second semi final played at the Goan’s Sports Association ground, Cross Maidan on Sunday afternoon.

A very well diciplined performance from the policemen was their passport to the final where they face the high flying Air India U19 team who beat Mumbai Strikers 4-1 in their semi final match one day before. Amey Bhatkal’s heroics inspired the Air India comeback.

M.S.Police had a daunting task facing an undefeated Dena Bank side who managed to top their play off group. Anything short of perfect would have proved costly against the in form Dena Bank squad. And they had a dream start as their in form striker Nimket Dembre put them in front. A closely contested half saw the policemen hold their one goal lead. At halftime M.S.Police lead 1-0

The second half began in favor of M.S.Police as Swapnil Mane doubled their lead in the 49th min. From then on it looked like they had won the match. But Dena Bank fightback began and it was in the 80th minute, when Aazar Ansari netted the goal making it Dena Bank 1-2 M.S.Police. With 10 minutes to go, the match went through a cliff hanger. But it was Nimket Dembre who netted the all important third goal in stoppage time for the policemen securing the two goal cushion.

M.S.Police now face Air India u19 in the final of the MDFA Super Division for the title.
