Leo Costa to join Ashutosh Mehta and Albino Gomes at Mumbai City FC for ISL-3

Mumbai City FC announces the signing of Leo Costa for the Indian Super League (ISL) Season 3. Ashutosh Mehta and Albino Gomes have secured their spot in the team following strong performances last season. With this signing, Mumbai City FC is putting together a challenging squad for the upcoming season with eyes firmly set on the trophy.

The 30-year-old Brazilian, Leo Costa is comfortable playing multiple roles as an attacking midfielder, winger, as well as a striker with an eye for the goal. Having played at the highest level in Brazil and Czech Republic, Costa brings in great experience and quality with him to the Mumbai City FC camp.

Ashutosh Mehta, a highly versatile defender who provides solidity at the back and creativity while going forward. He is an I-League regular for Mumbai FC and figured prominently throughout the last few seasons. At 25, Ashutosh has gained a lot of experience in a short span of time. Having played for Mumbai City FC last year as well, he is eager to help the club reach the playoffs this year.

The 22-year-old Albino Gomes is a promising young goalkeeper having represented India at the U-23, U-19 and U-16 levels. He is a Gold medal winner with the Goa-India team at 2014 Lusofonia Games. Gomes has been part of Salgaocar FC in the I-league for four seasons in a row, and with an appearance under his belt for Mumbai City FC last year, he’ll be looking to further grow with the team in season 3.

Commenting on the selection, Indranil Das Blah, CEO, Mumbai City FC said, “Leo Costa is a great attacking asset. He is an exciting talent and has a lot of playing time under his belt in some of the most competitive international leagues, which is a testimony to his skill. We are also excited to welcome back Ashutosh Mehta and Albino Gomes to the team. They are both young, hungry and extremely talented. We had a great experience with them last season and had ever since been quite sure about re-signing them for season 3.”
