Delhi Dynamos register their second victory of the season with a 0-2 win over FC Goa as they moved to fourth position in the table. Super sub Marcelinho made an immediate impact for the visitors as the Argentine winger scored one and assisted in another of Delhi’s two goals

Romeo Fernandes started his first game of the season alongside Rafael Coelho, Luciano and Mandar Rao Dessai. Sanjay Balmuchu replaced Pratesh Shirodkar while Richarlyson Barbosa and Trindade Goncalves were handed midfield berths.

Delhi made four changes Toni Doblas returned as the first choice keeper while Chinglensana Singh and Marcos Tebar returned to starting lineup, like Romeo for Goa, former Chennaiyin FC player Bruno Pelissari was given his first start of the season.

First chance fell to the home side through a counter-attack by Jofre Mateu’s first time through ball for Rafael Coelho whose chip was tipped by the onrushing Toni Doblas but the ball was still goal bound before it was cleared off the line by Anas Edathodika. Romeo Fernandes inclusion had revitalized Goa as the winger did pose a lot of questions for Delhi.

In the 30th minute, Mandar Rao Dessai’s 30-yard shot hit the crossbar as Goan were denied a lead. for Delhi, Gadze wasted a few opportunities, as his shoots were blocked by Goan defence each time.

The home side headed into half-time with nothing to show for their efforts as the scoreline remained at 0-0.

The second half began with the both the teams starting cautiously. Goa had a chance to take the lead in the 59th minute when Mandar’s cross found cesar whose header for onrushing Rafael failed as the Goan couldn’t get a touch on it.

In the 65th minute, Goa were denied a possible penalty when Jofre’s corner-kick hit Tebar’s arm. But the referee didn’t feel the same as the Zico was left furious with the decision.

Soon substitute Marcelinho put the visitors in the lead with a brilliant solo effort. A long ball from Doblas found Marcelinho who brought the ball down and on his run down the left took a straight shot into the far post that went in. Four minutes later, Delhi doubled the lead when Malouda did extremely well to cross from the left for Marcelinho at the far post, who chested the ball laying it off for Gadze to shoot past Subhasish to stunned the home crowd in silence.

Zico soon brought on Robin Singh replacing Jofre Mateu but none of the substitution managed to have any impact on the game. In the meanwhile, Delhi came close to scoring the third when Badara Badji’s shot went straight to Subhasish.

FC Goa’s nightmare seems to worsen in the ISL, as in the dying moments of the game even the fans began to leave anticipating the loss. Goa has now lost their fifth game of the season and even worse is having lost all home matches so far. Delhi moved to the fourth place while Goa remained rooted at the bottom.
