India U-16 side thrashed GFL Soccer Enterprise

It was a splendid day for India U16 team as they win 6-0 against GFL Soccer Enterprise, football academy side from United States of America at Duisburg in Germany. One goal each from Komal, Aniket, Saurabh and Gaston with second-half brace from Narendar were enough to seal the tie.

GFL are based in Florida, USA, and count 82-time capped former Deutschland international Arne Friedrich among their football coaching staff. The team, like India, were on a exposure tour in the European nation.

After a slow start, Building pressure after some 20 minutes and Indian U16 did not need to wait more for the first goal. Within two minutes of scoring the opener, Komal assisted another to Aniket, who put his name on the score-sheet easily.

Having missed a sitter towards the end of the half time, Amarjit on receiving the ball from the right flank, he toyed the defender but eventually tumbled to shot it wide.

After the resumption, Nicolai Adam altered the team and introduced seven pairs of legs in the likes of Saurabh, Narender, PS Gill, Joysana, Hendry, Gaston and Abhijit.

Within a minute of coming on the pitch, Saurabh tripled the lead from a scintillating cross from Gaston.

Gaston netted the fourth for the Indians in the 50th minute, an assist from Abhijit.

The USA side being dominated by the Indian side did not get a chance in the Indian box.

Their misery continued as Narender converted from a superb cross by Sanjeev fifteen minutes to the final whistle. He nailed the final one in GFL Enterprise’s coffin, to complete his second-half brace, in extra time to leave the ground on a high.

With AFC championship and FIFA U-17 World cup to be conducted, matches like this help understand different prospect of the game and build in motivation. Indian U-16 play their next game on 14th August.
