Divyanshu’s first minute strike sinks Konnark

Naaz United registered an hard fought 1-0 win against Konnark F.C in the first game of CSL season 2 at Cooperage Stadium on Saturdayevening.

MDFA (Mumbai District Association) Chairman, Shri Aditya Thackeray, Krishna Pawle, Sudhakar Rane, U. Banerjee, Jaffer Bhai all joined forces to inaugurate the second edition of Colaba Sports League.

Much to the surprise it took only 40 seconds to witness the first goal of the  Tournament. As soon as the Referee blew the whistle, Naaz United pushed forward and got the early breakthrough when Divyanshu Patil managed to cut inside and side foot a low shot to the goalkeeper’s left to take the lead.

Though Konnark conceded early they took their time to settle into the game and slowly gained the momentum they desperately needed.

On the half-hour mark Navin Negicame close to level the score when his powerful right footed shot rattled the bar. Konnark’s dugout was almost on the verge of celebrating the equalizer.

Few minutes later Konnark did put the ball into the back of the net, only to see it ruled offside. Naaz Utd went into the break with a 1-0 lead in hope to score another in the second-half to ease off the pressure.

In the second-half it was Konnark all over the place with a much improved second-half. Konnark had more number of chances than Naaz but their poor finishing prevented them to level the score.

On 61st minute, Bhavik Tandel long range shot was brilliantly kept out by Manish Shetty with a flying safe. Manish went on to win the Man of the match award too for his heroics.

Few minutes later Konnark’s Charles Fernandes saw his shot cleared from the line when his low drive was intercept and then cleared by Ajit Bhoir.

Naaz Utd defended their solitary goal in the dying minutes to kick off their campaign with a vital win.
