Dias United Sports Club to host F5WC Qualifying Tournament
Late Mr. Jacinto Andrew Fernandes, Chairman, and founder of Dias United Sports Club was a renowned football player back in his time who represented Maharashtra State Football Team in 1961. He also finished as the runner-up in the Rover’s Cup in 1961 where he established himself as a talented player.

Jacinto Fernandes has also played for the Mafatlal Mills and participated in various renowned tournaments like Durand Cup, DCM, Nadkarni Cup.
Dias United Sports Club was founded to serve the noble endeavor of the development of football in all ways possible. Cajetan, who is the current Director of the club is doing his bit, after participating in the Footvolley demonstration in Rio Olympics 2016, motivated by the tales of his late grandfather, filled with enthusiasm to contribute towards the development of football. Recently, when Dias United Sports Club collaborated with Boxer Football Academy, both combined to come up with an idea of organizing a Five-a-side football tournament named F5WC which features an opportunity to showcase the winner of the tournament in the World Finals Qualifiers 2017.
“I was fascinated by hearing great stories like how he played during his time. I used to get goosebumps after hearing he played with the ilks of Derrick D’Souza and the legendary goalkeeper S. S. Narayan,” Cajetan said.
The initiative of selecting players for the F5WC which will be held next year is a great idea to recruit talented players. It will set a huge platform to the ones who has taken this beautiful game very passionately. The Tournament will kick-off from mid-November and it will surely live up to its expectations.
