Defending Champions ONGC sinks Kenkre FC in Elite Division

Kenkre FC

Cooperage, 2nd December 2016: Holders ONGC (Oil & Natural Gas Corporation) met Kenkre FC in the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) Elite Division 2016-17 encounter at Cooperage Stadium, Churchgate on Friday evening.ONGC rose to the occasion and produced a sensational performance to sink Kenkre FC 4-0 to register an emphatic victory.

Kenkre FC who had also lost out to Central Bank of India (CBI) 5-0 in the opening game suffered yet another defeat which continues their dismissal from this season.

A goal each from Satyam Sharma, Nitesh Monde, Dharmesh Patel, and V. Lalchhuanawma proved enough for ONGC to snatch all three points in a very crucial encounter.

Both the sides took their time to settle down and for the majority of the match relied on counters. It was ONGC, though, who broke the deadlock in the 24th minute.

Satyam Sharma scored a sublime goal to break Kenkre’s resilient backline. Kenkre FC stepped up their game after the opening goal and got enough opportunities later in the match to equalise, but their attack seemed toothless in front of ONGC’s solid defence.

The second half turned out to be a very close affair but only until the 74th minute as ONGC notched up three fine goals in the last 15 minutes to outclass their opponent. Nitesh Monde scored in the 74th minute, Dharmesh Patel got one after five minutes, and the final goal was scored by Lalchhuanawma to give ONGC an important win.
