The 2nd edition of the popular Colaba community-based football league, Colaba Sports League’s launch event for Video launch and Logo unveiling took place at the Indian Football School, Cooperage ground on Wednesday evening in the presence of TATA group’s Chairman Emeritus Mr. Ratan Tata and Mumbai District Football Association’s Chairman Aditya Thackeray with Mr. Krishna Pawle, Mr. Souter Vaz, Mr. Udayan Banerjee, Mr. Henry Menezes and Mr. Sudhakar Rane amongst others. The event was elegantly hosted by CA Kunal Mehta representing Kunal Sports and Mr. Sachim Karekar representing Out of box Events.

The launch event captured the enthusiasm and vision of the Colaba Sports League as Krishna Pawle took the podium to describe the thoughts and ideas put together to bring to the footballing community of Colaba at a common platform from which they can build upon.

Have a glimpse of the first edition of Colaba Sports league.

The first-edition of the league saw raised employment opportunities for Roger Sam and Tejas Raut landed jobs with Centurion in Mumbai; a number of players featured in the past edition played in this year’s 70th Santosh trophy and a hatful of others went on to represent Maharashtra at under-14 & under-17 level. The rise of Saurabh Meher was the story of the season last year as he is now part of the Indian nation team which will play the under-17 world cup on their home soil next year.

Before every guest at the event would go on to eat the delicious food, there were a lot of exchanges between the guests and the speakers, which talked about the growing popularity of the league and how it has come from the back gardens of the city to the historic and iconic Cooperage stadium this year.

With a host of new sponsors on board, which together share the same vision and ideology as Krishna Pawle and Sudhakar Rane, the league is set to be a fully-fledged professional league this year. The Colaba Sports League brings to the people of the city a fine picture of how important it is for football to grow not only as a community but with the community.

Last year, the final of the league was played at the Cooperage ground, which provided with an opportunity for the kids and players, who were only a part of the games played as spectators. This year, with each and every game being played at Cooperage, the league believes in providing the participants, with an experience which only the elite division or i-League teams experience.

A slight change in the model of the league will benefit the league at large as it promises to be another footballing extravaganza for the people of Colaba with their very own football league.
