‘Go Green Cup’ – Finale

The ‘Go Green Cup’ 2016 came to an end on Saturday, 12th march 2016. A Kenkre Academy initiative, we can say that the competition was a massive success. Success in terms of the overall participation, the involvement of the parents and the number of coaches present to grace the tournament. With Mr Floyd Pinto keeping a watch on all the kids out there, the ‘Go Green Cup lived up to its standard set from the previous year. The final day of the ‘Go Green Cup’ saw the teams battle in the quarterfinal, semi-final and final matches in their respective categories.

Under-8
Don Bosco B entered the final beating Lions 2-1 on penalties in the first of two semifinals of Under 8 category held on the turf. FFA ‘A’ emerged 4-0 victorious over Scottish Avengers in the second semi-final of Under 8 category. Goals from Yashoman, Abdali, Mahashwin and Dhimaan sent the FFA ‘A’ into the final.
Don Bosco B was defeated 2-1 by FFA ‘A’ team in the final of the Under 8 category. FFA ‘A’ were victorious, courtesy goals from Rajveer Chauhan and Mehlam Dilawer.

Under-10
Scottish Strikers beat FFA 2 in the very first quarterfinal of the Under 10 category. Jared Collins and Arjun Jhaveri’s goals sealed a 2-0 win. St Stanislaus A beat Bajrangi Boyz 3-0 in the second quarterfinal of the Under 10 category. Calvin D’Souza’s brace and Vivian Sanghvi’s goal were enough for progression. FFA 1 thumped Aspire by 6-0 in the third quarterfinal. Hamza Motiwala starred in the match scoring a hattrick. Atarsh Patel and Dhwaj Ranawat were also on the scorer sheet. Zarayus Anklesaria scored a wonderful hat-trick sending his team Bosco Strikers to the semi-final with a 3-0 win over Don Bosco A side.

In the first semi-final, Scottish Strikers were defeated 3-0 by the FFA 1 team. Hanzala Kapadia’s brace and Ziev Chheda’s goal ensured FFA 1 entered the final. In the second semi-final, Bosco Strikers edged St Stanislaus A by a single goal. Zarayus Anklesaria’s goal turned out to be the winner.

FFA 1 were crowned Under 10 champions beating Bosco Strikers 2-0 in the final. Goals from Ziev Chheda and Hanzala Kapadia sealed the win for FFA 1.

Under-12
In the first of four quarter-final matches, Kenkre Jaguars beat Fireballs 9-0. Braces from Gautam Girish , Vedant Pingle and Zain Moon were the highlight of the match. Hawks lost to Bandra Stars in the second quarterfinal match by 2-1. Zubair Karbhari’s brace proved to be the difference in the match. In quarterfinal 3, Mumbai Colts defeated SSE Tigers by 2-0. Karsten D’Souza and Harsh Naik scored the goals. In the last of the four quarterfinal matches, Bosco Dragons thumped Kooh Sports by 5-0. Harsh Palande was the man of the match scoring a wonderful hat-trick. Errol Noronha and Keith Fernandes were also on target.

The first semi-final in the U12 category saw Kenkre Jaguars edge Mumbai Colts by 1-0. Shajaan Bilawala’s goal proved t be the winner for the Kenrke Jaguars. In the second semi-final Bandra Stars caused a major upset beat Bosco Dragons by 3-1. Varad Parab, Shayne Dcosta, and Zubaair Karbhari were on target.

Kenkre Jaguars were crowned the U12 Champions beating Bandra Stars 1-0 in the final. Joshua Mendes proved to be the all-important goal as it turned out to be the winner in the end.

Under-14
Gladiators lost to Bandra Stars in the first semi-final. Keegan Pinto netted the winner for the Bandra Stars. Nefarious Bosco won 3-2 on penalties against Bosco Hurricanes as both the teams failed to score in a thrilling contest in the second semi-final.

Bandra Stars were crowned the Under-14 category Champions beating Bosco Nefarious by 1-0. Ridge scored the winning goal in the match.

The five days of the ‘Go Green Cup’ 2016 witnessed football played in the right spirit of the game. The amazing initiative by Kenkre Academy saw its fruits as all the kids had spent five best days of their lives. It was a wonderful experience for the parents as well, who had a totally new experience. The Kenkre Champions League and The ‘Go Green Cup’ 2016, both the tournaments reached a level above compared to its previous years.
