Xavier’s Boys crowned 3rd Division Champions

Xavier’s Boys Beat Malavni S.C. after the match went into a Penalty Shootout and Xavier’s Boys emerged as Champions in the 3rd Division Finals held at Xavier’s ground Parel on Sunday.

Malvani S.C. were attacking from the very first minute of the game while the Xavier’s Boys stuck to their usual defensive stance. The defensive strategy of Xavier’s Boys would have cost them a goal in the 3rd minute itself but Gypsy Singh couldn’t make the very important contact provided by Avlon Dias.

Things became bad for Malvani S.C. after a controversial Offside in the 20th minute which had the Xavier’s Boys goalkeeper, Prasad More failing to save the ball.

The match witnessed a couple of injuries including both the goalies who were down and needed medical assistance. The ball possesion was mostly with Malvani S.C. but they failed to score by the end of regulation time.

In the Penalty shootout, Elvis Rodrigues, Calvin D’souza, Sachin Bandivdekar, Satish Salian and Yesu Chettiar scored for Xavier’s Boys while Prasad More guarded for the side.

For Malvani S.C. Reegan Misquita, Ritesh Sathe, and Maxi D’souza scored in the penalties and Moheeb Hussain missed. With that Xavier’s Boys emerged victorious and Malvani S.C. had to settle for Runners up trophy.

The player of the tournament award was taken away by Elvis Rodrigues who had proved his mettle in the semifinals against Tarun Sporting.
