Tarun Sporting edge out Mumbai FC U-17 on penalties to finish third

Tarun Sporting bagged the 3rd position against Mumbai F.C in the 3rd division match of M.D.F.A. (Mumbai District Football Association) at St Xavier’s ground, Parel on 29 May 2015.

Mumbai F.C were very firm during the start of the game and had the maximum ball possession
Mumbai F.C’s Arbaaz Kapadia made an attempt to score in the 3rd minute but his close range shot went few feet over the cross bar.

Mumbai FC had great chances to open the scoring after they were granted many free kicks but they failed to aptly direct it toward the goal and hence they missed many chances. They lost control of the game and Tarun Sporting started attacking.

Tarun Sporting’s Mustafa H. made a good attempt to score from 6 yards in the 15th minute. He got a cross from Kashif B. which he controlled and drilled it goalwards but it went wide away from goal.

Minutes later Tarun Sporting’s Mustafa B’s good piece of play saw him skip many players but his efforts went away from goal. He ran along with the ball from the half line and skipped Mumbai F.C’s Melroy and shot but it was not a well-directed shot hence it did not turn into the goal.

Mumbai F.C came back into the game strongly in the 17th minute when Cyrus Karbhari snatched the ball from Tarun Sporting’s Nayeem Hasan and dribbled the ball towards the target. He was again blocked by goalkeeper but he crossed him and shot on target. Mumbai F.C made it 1-0.

2minutes later Tarun Sporting’s equalized their score when Robinson F. got a pass from Nayeem Hassan. Mumbai F.C Melroy tried his best to snatch the ball but Kashif Baghdadi crossed him and smashed it on target to level the scores.

The first half ended with Mumbai F.C and Tarun Sporting equal at 1-1.

In the second half of the game Mumbai F.C had the maximum chances but they failed to score.

Both teams were cautious after the restart and none of the tams wanted to fall behind and hence the game was lacked any kind of tempo.

10 minutes after the break Mumbai F.C got a chance to from a free kick when Mumbai F.C’s Mayur Suvare controlled the ball outside the penalty box and shot but his shot was saved by the goalkeeper and it rebounded off and the opponent team player grabbed the loose ball and cleared the field.

In the 45th minute Mumbai F.C missed another chance as the goalkeeper came forward and made a save for the shot hit by Calun Baretto. Mumbai F.C’s Harsh Rali skipped many players and crossed to Calun Baretto shot towards the target but his efforts were well shielded by the goalkeeper.

With the full time whistle the game ended with 1-1 draw. Both the team had to play for a tie breaker.

Both the teams were successful to correctly shoot in the first five chances. The 6th chance changed the game and turned the whole game in Tarun Sporting’s favor as Mumbai F.C failed to score in the 6th penalty shootout.

Tarun Sporting became the second runner up and secured the third position. Mumbai F.C were unfortunate as they lost the last game on penalties.
