Union Bank of India recover to defeat MS Police 3-1
MS police back to square one as they lost against Union Bank of India 3-1 in the Elite division of MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) held on 4 February 2015 at Cooperage Stadium.
MS police had won the previous match against Central Bank of India 2-1 and was hoping to win this match as well. In the opening 20 minutes Akshay Shinde did try to score and every time he received a through ball he tried to control the ball but failed to score.
During one such instance, Union Bank of India goalkeeper went on to shield the ball from Akshay and pounced on it and injured himself.
All these attempts paid off for MS police in the 38th minute when Himket Dembre, controlled the ball he received from right wing and placed in the far post. Goalkeeper dived to save the ball but damage had already been done. By the end of first half MS Police was leading over Union Bank of India 1-0.
As MS Police tried to continue dominating the game after first half, Mosim Mohammed shot a couple of long range half volleys straight to the goal post. His aim was precise and Union Bank of India had to either leap or punch the ball to avoid the ball from entering the goal.
In the 52th minute Union Bank of India tried to recover from the first blow and a quick triangular passing began between Pratik Koli, Shanon Pereira and Manish Koli. Out of the trio 2 of them helped Union Bank of India to score.
Khalid Siddique scored in the 76th minute and helped Union Bank of India to equalize, after a Penalty was awarded to Union Bank of India. The penalty was awarded since MS Police goalkeeper fouled Union Bank of India’s winger Manish Koli.
Soon in the 80th minute Pratik koli scored and brought Union bank of India closer to victory. After a few quick few passes Pratik dribbled past two MS Police defenders and striked the ball. The ball hit the goalie as he tried to save and rebounded towards Pratik and given a second chance he managed to score this time.
The final substitute for Union Bank of India, Troy Nunes began to pace around the field as soon as he entered. He tried to further Union Bank of India’s lead. Shortly he received a through ball and he ran towards the goalpost. He fumbled with the ball and MS Police players caught him. Marked by defenders he flicked the ball from flank towards Manish Koli in the last minute. Manish Koli chest trapped the ball and a half-volley seemed like the final nail in the coffin for MS Police in the 94th minute.
As the final whistle blew, Union Bank of India 3 (K Siddique, P Koli, M Koli) bt MS Police 1 (H Dembre)
