Three points delight Dempo Assistant coach Aaron Symons

Dempo S.C registered just their second win in this season’s Hero I-League and the first one on the road. The Goan outfit rode their luck a bit after referee K.Venkatesh awarded them a relatively soft penalty.

But assistant coach Aaron Symons was delighted with the three points and couldn’t care less about the manner in which it came. “Getting the three points was important for us at this point of the season, so I don’t really care how it comes. We have been missing a lot of chances but I am glad that we took the one which came our way today”.

Aaraon Symons hailed his side’s defensive display and felt that was the key to his side leaving Cooperage with all three points. “Defensively we were outstanding today. The overall performance wasn’t our best so far but we were splendid at the back. A lot of times the forwards take the plaudits but today it was all about the defensive display”.

The Dempo number two felt the law of averages worked for his side today as they bagged the three points despite not playing to their full capacity. “We have put in better performances in some games this season and got lesser points than today, so it levels it up. Mumbai is tough place to come to and barring their last result they have been really good at home. So it’s a good result for us”.

Carlos Hernandez who dispatched the decisive spot kick was awarded the man of the match award and Aaron Symons acknowledged his contribution in the game. “Carlos had a really good game and also scored the all-important goal.
He was rightly awarded the man of match according to me. The players put in a good shift and I hope this is the start of the improvement we have been seeking in our game. We are a much better team than what our results show and we need put it right”.

Dempo now entertain Pune FC at Fatorda next week and will be looking to build on today’s win agains Karim Bencherifa’s men who went down to East Bengal 3-2 at home later in the day.
