State Cops with an evening to cherish as Ranbir Kapoor’s All Stars FC sizzle on the football pitch

Mumbai Police Commissioner and Anti Terrorist Squad Chief Rakesh Maria and film star Ranbir Kapoor

Cooperage Ground played host to the Maharashtra State Police Festival in which the All Stars FC led by Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor played a friendly game with the Maharashtra State Police officials. All Stars featured various famous artists from the industry which also included Arjun Kapoor and Shabbir Aluwahlia. The superstars sizzled as they ran out 4-1 winners against the policemen.

A battery of policemen who flocked the Cooperage stands were entertained by some lovely football by those who are more famous for rocking the big screen.

The Police team featured some senior officials which included the Mumbai Police Commissioner and Anti-Terrorist Squad Chief Rakesh Maria.

The game started brightly as the crowd was lifted in the very first minute as Ranbir Kapoor showed off his footballing skills with a clever flick to set up a shot for the All Stars FC.

The crowd who were anticipating superstar Ranbir Kapoor to get on the score sheet, nearly had them jumping with joy. Another star Dino Morea too brought out the hidden footballer in him when he had some good moments playing on the right wing.

In the 8th minute, he combined with Ranbir Kapoor to set up Pecs, who shot over. The crowd was enjoying seeing their beloved stars get involved in the action and every touch of theirs was cheered.

But despite the glitter and glamour, the All Stars brought to the table, the policemen were more than happy to see their side do well. The MSP Officials came close to taking the lead when a shot from the halfway line nearly caught the All Stars goalkeeper out.

Arjun Kapoor could only last fifteen minutes of the action as he was substituted in the 15th minute. All Stars FC eventually took the lead as Dino Morea bundled in a loose ball which the keeper had spilt in the 20th minute.

Three minutes later, the crowd’s wish was all but granted when Ranbir Kapoor was found in space on the edge of the box, only for his shot to be blocked, leading to the disappointment of those gathered.

Shabbir Aluwahlia who partnered Ranbir Kapoor up front, turned provider for Pecs who fired in All Stars FC’s second goal in the 30th minute. The policemen went into the second half 2-0 down.

All Stars increased the lead just five minutes into the second half with arguably the goal of the game as Shabbir Aluwahlia beautifully finished after chipping over the goalkeeper.

The policemen did sent few of their regular football players and pulled a goal back in the 47th minute, much to the joy of their large number of colleagues in the stands. But it was the All Stars who had the last laugh as they scored through Pecs in the 63rd minute to make it 4-1 for Ranbir Kapoor’s men.

In gestural presentation ceremony, both captains presented the opposing teams with the medals and Ranbir Kapoor lifted the trophy along with Rakesh Maria chanting the All Stars’ support for the policemen.

It was an evening of happiness in the lives of the policemen who so often sacrifice their moments of joy ensuring the society cherish theirs. The smiles on the faces of these men were the ultimate trophy, which was won by Ranbir Kapoor and his All Stars side.
