Day 4 of Rustomjee Go Green witnesses energetic clashes in the Under- 17 and Under- 14 ranks
Thursday it was already, and the fourth day of the Kenkre hosted Rustomjee Go Green Cup had embarked on the beginning of its end.
The business end of the tournament had begun with the under 14 category playing out their semifinal clashes as the under 17’s locked horns for their quarterfinal encounters.
Under- 17
The very first fixture, was a cracker of a match as the fate was decided over penalties. It was the K- Blues taking on Kentauriance FC with the latter emerging on top after Ehtesham, Shubham and Alister made most of the opportunity on their penalty kicks and secured a 3-2 win for the team.
Next up, it was SSBM FC pitted against Goals R Us. SSBM effectively managed to sit on a one goal lead after Surya Naikar’s strike to go on and win the match.
The third quarterfinal was between Parasites and Spartans and the Parasites notched up a more than convincing 4-0 victory with Amey Ranawde and Arbaaz Sheikh scoring the goals.
The last encounter of the day featured the Warriors United taking the challenge to Orange Bleeders. The score was 1-0 in favour of the Warriors at half time after Raul Lewis put a long ranger into the goal. However, the Bleeders were not to be bogged down as they came in from behind after the break to score 2 goals and surface triumphant as Sanat Valladares got both of them.
Under- 14
This age segment was a step ahead of their seniors as it was the semifinals before the all important championship tussle. Thus, the teams had pride, glory at all to play for!
The very first match had a story similar to the under- 17 category as the Bandra Stars and Don Bosco Red failed to score goals and the result thus was decided on penalties. As the Bandra Boys (Kevin, Kegan, Josiah, Gerard and Marwin) achieved 5 out of 5, it was one miss from the Red’s or rather one save by the Stars’s keeper which gave them the win.
The other match was Francisco coached Galaxy Boyz B versus the Indian Strikers. And a beautiful goal by Aaron Trinided just before the half time whistle made the real difference as it was ultimately the winner.
In the Under- 14 A section, the first semi final was between Red Devils and Dadar FC A. A hat trick from winger Shubham Chippa nailed the victory for Dadar FC.
The other match saw Francisco’s other team, Galaxy Boyz A losing out to Don Bosco Blue. Bosco went up in the lead right under the first minute Rohit Warang’s shot found the back of the nets. From there on they completely dominated the proceedings, forcing Galaxy Boyz to play a defensive game and eventually that won them the match as well.
Hence, as a the night came to a close after some nail biting contests we look forward to the second last day of the Go Green Cup which promises to be nothing short of edge-of-the-seat entertainment!
