Smart Football Leader S.C hold dominant S.P. Academy

Smart Football Leader clashed with S.P. Football academy in the MDFA Women’s League match held at Karnataka Sports Association ground. The match ended in a draw with both the teams scoring one goal each.

S.P Football Academy strikers Akanksha Kandalkar and Jyoti Mehra attacked from the very start.

But Smart Football scored their first goal in the 7th minute as Lian Mathews aimed at the goal from the right wing. A perfect volley did the job and positioned Smart Football leader 1-0 over S.P. Academy. With a morale boost, Smart Football Academy players displayed short and crisp passing skills.

S.P Football Academy had a chance to equalize in the 15th minute itself. Abeer Arsiwala and Jyoti Mehra combined well as they carried the ball from the centre-line and entered the penalty box. Abeer passed the ball to Jyoti which she failed to head home and instead she passed it back to Abeer.

Akansha’s efforts bared fruit in the 19th minute as Jyoti assistied her. Akansha ran up towards the goal post and with only Smart Football Academy player to stop her from scoring, she kicked the ball over the goalkeepers reach to get S.P. Academy back in the game.

The equalizer goal had changed the whole balance of the game. The second half witnessed the majority ball possession which remained with the S.P Football Academy and the ball hardly crossed the centre line.

Priya Tiwari tried her best for Smart Football Leader in the 38th minute. She dribbled the ball and kicked the ball which hit Riya Tank and fell. The ball got deflected and by the time she regained composure the ball was cleared by S.P Academy defenders.

A minute later, Akansha attempted another try on the goal. The ball hit the left side bar and got deflected and would have entered the goal but Smart Football Leader goalkeeper was quick enough to stop it from entering the goal.

As the final whistle blew, the match had ended in a draw with Akansha and Lian scoring for their respective teams.

Earlier that day, Kenkre lost the match to Sanjivani 0-5. Surbhi Manjrekar scored one goal, Neha Ture scored two goals while Namrata Thakur scored a Hat-trick for Sanjivani helping them in their win.
