Shivam Desai heroics saved Sagar Mitra Mandal
Sagar Mitra Mandal defeats R.C.F Youth 4-2 on penalties, confirming their place in next round of MDFA 3rd division play-offs. Judishte Padhi (R.C.F Youth) and Vishal Parmar (Sagar Mitra Mandal) score a goal each for their respective teams to take the match into penalty shootout where Sagar Mitra Mandal eventually came on top.
The first half was much more of a defensive game where both the teams sat back and dictated the play, failing to create chances, both played on counters just before the first half ended but failed to break either of the defence.
Into the second half, R.C.F Youth were awarded a penalty when Nigel Marquis was fouled inside the box, Judishte Padhi stepped up scored on his right side making the score 1-0 in favour of R.C.F Youth.
Sagar Mitra Mandal dominated the game since then, they knew it, scoring and taking the match in penalties will make things even for both the teams. With their mentality changed to attacking football now, the breakthrough came just minutes remaining when Prathamesh Kamble accelerated from the left flank and crossed it towards Vishal Parmar who blasted his effort between two defenders making the score 1-1.
Now into the penalties, Sagar Mitra Mandal goalkeeper Shivam Desai had other ideas when he was given the job to save the penalties and he didn’t disappoint. Shubham Dalvi (R.C.F Youth), Somil Chauhan (R.C.F Youth) and Nigel Marquis (R.C.F Youth), all of them had their efforts tremendously saved by Shivam Desai giving them a huge win to secure a memorable turnaround over R.C.F Youth.
