Jupiter FC and Dahisar United book their place in next round

Jupiter FC and Dahisar United, both are qualified for the next round of MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) play-offs after overcoming Christchurch FC and Mumbai Railway Police respectively on Saturday at Xaviers Football Ground, Parel. Though, both the matches had to be separated by penalty shootout which is amusingly quite normal in this year play-offs, more than half of the matches has been decided on penalties so far.

Jupiter FC did score in normal time against Christchurch FC but the goal was later disallowed by the referee, striker Liebert Fernandes comfortably got away from his marker and calmly scored past the goalkeeper, only to see the linesman raising the flag.

The most surprising moment was when Jupiter FC’s goal scoring machine, Romil Anand was made goalkeeper from the start itself due to the absence of their initial goalkeeper. He surprisingly didn’t disappointed, making some key saves during the match.

With the match ended 0-0, it was time for some actual drama. Yamik Holkar (Jupiter FC), Eranna Vadari (Christchurch FC), Vicky Thomas (Jupiter FC), Angel Andrews (Christchurch FC), Kunal Sonawane (Jupiter FC), Ethan (Christchurch FC), Prayas Holkar (Jupiter FC) all converted their penalty kick unless Fahad (Christchurch FC) misses his spot kick. Romil Anand (Jupiter FC) stepped up and scored the decisive kick.

It was Jupiter FC who was going through, and for Christchurch FC, they need to play 3rd division yet again next season.

In the second encounter, Dahisar United and Mumbai Railway Police cancelled out each other in normal time with Harvinder Singh (Dahisar United) and Jagdeep Singh (Mumabi Railway Police) scoring for their respective team.

The match went into penalties , Mumbai Railway Police’s Sunil Kambli and Pradeep missed their respective penalties which gave Anurag a chance to win it for Dahisar United, he calmly sends the goalkeeper in wrong way and made Dahisar United qualify in next round.
