Sellebrity F.C. clinches a narrow and hard fought 2-1 victory over Bank of India

On the 3rd of December 2015, Bank of India featured against Sellebrity F.C. in the Mumbai District Football Association (M.D.F.A.) Super Division Group ‘A’ match. Sellebrity F.C. defeated Bank of India by 2-1. Sellebrity F.C. took an early two goal lead in the match, and held through till the full-time whistle despite holding-on to a one-goal lead for most part of the match. Sellebrity F.C. opened the goalscoring in the Merwyn Fernandez and no.19 Ronit Borkar doubled the scoring in the 17th minute. The Bank of India pulled a goal back in the 24th minute via a close-range finish from no.10 Rahul Nair.
The match began at a considerably average speed with Sellebrity F.C. scoring two goals out of nowhere. The first goal came via a Merwyn Fernandez header, second, Ronit Borkar reacted in-time to convert a half-chance into goal from inside the box. The scoreline by the twentieth minute mark astonished spectators as-well-as the teams coaching staff and players. Neither side expected the match to turn into such a one-sided contest this early in the game; a point from where Sellebrity F.C. could do no wrong. But, they did on the 24th minute and no.10 Rahul Nair gave the Bank of India a life-line midway through the first-half. The goal acted somewhat like a trigger for Bank of India after a shaky start to match which saw them 2 goals down so early on in the match.
After Bank of India pulled a goal back it was a cat-and-mouse-race where the mouse was Sellebrity F.C. who were desperate in their attempts to protect their lead and score a much needed third goal, which they never looked like scoring, on the other-hand cat was Bank of India, who constantly tried to score a goal, but never came as close to scoring when they hit the crossbar in the last play of the match. During most parts of the game both sides failed to live up to their respective tasks at least in an attacking sense.
The game finished in favour of Sellebrity F.C., but it was deserved of a draw, at least for the number of chances Bank of India created. Although, Sellebrity had their fair share of chances to convert their 2-1 lead into a two goal cushion. This was a game of luck, which favoured Sellebrity F.C. and not Bank of India.
