RCF edge a cagey affair against Central Bank of India

A lone scorer Sandeep upadhya from RCF

Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers overcame Central Bank of India 1-0 in an Elite Division game of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) which failed to produce any kind of fireworks held at Cooperage on 9th March 2015.

RCF came into the game on the back of a 1-0 win while Central Bank of India returned to action for the first time since their 2-1 defeat in an ill-tempered game against the MS Police which saw their coach suspended for this game.

The game took a while to take off, before Sandeep Upadhya put RCF ahead in the 21st minute with a well taken goal.

The remainder of the half had very few chances of note as RCF were slightly the dominant of the two sides in terms of possession.

Referee drew a dull first half to a close with RCF leading through their strike midway in the first half.

The second half was similar to the first, as both teams cancelled each other out in midfield, meaning very few chances for either side.

CBI came close to levelling the score when Scott D’Souza’s free kick was brilliantly kept out by Narender Singh in the 67th minute.

Scott D’Souza managed to get plenty of venom behind the shot but Narender Singh was equal to his task as acrobatically punched the shot clear.

RCF nearly sealed the points in the 86th minute when substitute Shahbaz Khan found himself in space in front of the CBI goal to shoot, but was denied by a brilliant piece of goalkeeping from Ramesh S of CBI.

Despite some late CBI pressure, it was RCF who created better openings. RCF’s Angampu failed to keep his shot down in stoppage time despite being clear on the CBI goal.

The referee’s final whistle gave RCF yet another win while heaping more misery on troubled Central Bank of India as they were at the wrong end in another tightly contested game.

But all in all it was a game to forget with both sides failing to produce free flowing football which the fans desire for.

But that will not bother RCF who racked up more points to add to there points tally.
