Rampant Union Bank of India rip apart sorry Companeroes

Union Bank of India racked up the goals in a 5-1 mauling of struggling Companeroes S.C. in an Elite Division game of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) at Cooperage on Thursday, 7th May 2015. Union Bank of India scored at regular intervals in the game killing any Companeroes attempts to claw their way into the game.

After a solid start by the Bankers, Mrunal Tandel lodged them in front in the 18th minute as the striker continued his good form after netting a brace for Konaark Realtors in the CSL last week.

UBI looked in the mood as they added a second goal just four minutes after netting their opener through Carlton D’Mello. UBI failed to further increase their lead before the interval as Companeroes showed some much needed resistance.

But UBI weren’t to be kept out for long when the Bankers once again breached the Companeroes rearguard in the 46th minute, when Partik Koli put UBI firmly in the driver’s seat scoring their third goal of the morning.

Companeroes tried hard to limit further damage but failed in their bid to do so when Neehar Mukne fired in UBI’s fourth goal in the 78th minute to break half an hour long resistance from Companeroes.

The struggling outfit of Companeroes did manage to make their impression on the game when Ravi Kajania put Companeroes on the score sheet to make it 4-1 in UBI’s favour.

But it was UBI who had the last laugh as Shravan Shetty completed the rout with a fifth UBI goal in the third minute of stoppage time as UBI ran out 5-1 winners at the end of a fairly comfortable morning for Julian D’Silva’s men.
