Oscar Foundation leave it late against Ruffians; Shivalaya Pratishthan down Pheonix Sports

Oscar Foundation left it late against Ruffians FC as a winner two minutes from time was enough to secure a 1-0 win for them in the Group J game of the 3rd Division of Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) held at the Karnataka Sporting Association ground on Thursday, 7th May 2015.

It was a tight affair for the majority of first half barring few half chances for both the teams, which neither could take advantage of meaning the first half ended with the teams still to open the scoring.

The second half proved to be a lot more open and both teams strived for a goal to lift them to a win. Despite the increase in intensity, neither team was able to take the chances that came their way.

But Oscar Foundation made that vital breakthrough, just two minutes from time when Nishant Ghadge struck to put them in the lead.

Ruffians who were completely stunned by the late Oscar strike didn’t have enough time to regroup and succumbed to a narrow defeat in a game where Nishant Ghade’s strike was the difference between the two sides.

Earlier in the day, Shivalaya Pratishthan dished out a professional display as they brushed aside Pheonix Sports 2-0 with goals from Sagar Shrama and Himanshu Dabak propelling Shivalaya Pratishthan to a fairly easy win in the Group D of the MDFA 3rd Division.

Meanwhile in another 3rd Division clash held at the St. Xavier’s Ground in Parel, Milan F.A. and Shastri Nagar F.C played out a goalless draw. It was a I group encounter in the MDFA 3rd Division which ended goalless.
