Passionate crowd adds spice to a thrilling Day Three of the Rustomjee Go Green Cup (U-8, U-10, U-12)

Go Green Day 3

The third day of the Rustomjee Go Green Cup 2015 saw some thrilling affairs in the U-8, U-10 and U-12 categories.

Parents and well-wishers flocked up in large numbers, making it an electric atmosphere at the Don Bosco Ground in Matunga. The passion shown by the parents was no different to what fans of big football clubs around the world show. Seeing their parents so much involved into the game they adore will do wonders to lift the spirit of these young footballing prodigies.

U-8 Category – Spirited Scottish United held Don Bosco A for a 1-1 draw in the U-8 category game. This game saw the best crowd so far not just in terms of numbers, but also in terms of support. Both sets of fans cheered them on and had some unique chants to go with it.

The hosts suffered a setback as Scottish United took the lead through Dhruv Sardana’s brilliant goal in the 6th minute. The Scots nearly held on till half time only to be denied that half time advantage in the final minute of the half, thanks to a goal from Don Bosco goalkeeper Noman Sayyad whose goal kick went straight in despite the Scottish United getting a touch to it.

The second half had some breathtaking moments as the fans were entertained with some end to end stuff. Don Bosco finished the game strongly, but Scottish United held on for a surprise point for them against the much fancied Don Bosco side. Both sides were brilliant in terms of the effort they put in to earn that point.

In the other game in the same category, KCL winners Lions edged a thrilling affair against Scottish Champs 3-2. Moksh Tunara scored a brace for the Lions, while Agastya Bhat too registered his name on the score sheet. Aadiv Das and Adam Araujo scored the two goals for the Scottish Champs.

U-10 Category– Super Smashers rode on Aditya Giri’s heroics in goal to beat Don Bosco Boys 1-0. The Smashers scored a beautiful goal from a corner as Aryaman Bhaan headed home the inch perfect corner kick from close range in the 7th minute to put Super Smashers in front.

Later on it was all down to Smashers’ goalkeeper Aditya Giri who produced an inspired performance denying wave after wave of Don Bosco Boys attacks with some acrobatic saves.

Don Bosco Boys failed to find a way past the solid Super Smashers as they went down 1-0 to them.
Later in the evening, Super Stallions edged Tigers in an eight goal thriller winning 5-3 as Alok Vernekar scored a brace while Rayhan Shimpi, Shrey Yewale and Vikesh Goradia scored a goal each for the Super Stallions. Jorryn Fernandes, Omkar Chavan and Aniruddha Gogti were on target for the Tigers.

Fun Foot Academy Blues bounced back from a defeat in their first game with a 2-0 win over Vision. Hamza Motiwala and Zev Chadda scored for FFA Blues.

U-12 Category– Tridents proved too strong for Mumbai Jags as they defeated them 3-1. Divyam Chhabra put the Tridents in the lead in the 6th minute. The Tridents managed to hold on to the slim lead till half time. But there lead did not last for too long post the interval as Mumbai Jags equalized early on in the second half through Amaan. But Tridents came storming back to sink Mumbai Jags as Veer Gidwani’s goal in the 14th minute helped Tridents regain the lead.

Just a minute later, Rohan Kulkarni struck for Tridents to put the game beyond the Mumbai Jags.
In the other games, Michael Thayo’s Golden Eaglets side brushed aside Marians United 8-2. Siddharth and Vidhit scored four goals each for the Golden Eaglets who bounced back from yesterday’s defeat with a fantastic win. Arnav and Aayan scored for Marians United.

Millat FC stunned the Don Bosco Greens 2-1 as Zoheb’s brace for Millat FC cancelled out Faizuddin’s goal for hosts Don Bosco.

In their first game of the day, Mumbai Jags drew 1-1 with Scottish FC. Aanchan got on the score sheet for Scottish FC while Shavanvail scored for Mumbai Jags.

Day three saw the end of the league stages for the U-8, U-10 and U-12 category. So Day four is certain to bring more tension and drama to the Rustomjee Go Green Cup 2015.
