Wednesday evening at the Don Bosco Grounds, Matunga and an exciting 11 fixtures were lined up on the two adjacent fields for the Under-17’s and Under- 14’s on the third day of the Rustomjee Go Green Cup.

Under- 17

One of the entertaining matches in this section was between Kentauriance FC who had lost the previous night to Spartans and were now playing against Don Bosco Shelter. The Kentaurians got an early goal on the 4th minute as Shalok Nayyar put in the ball right into the middle of the goal. Two minutes later, the Kentauriance keeper was awarded the red card for using his hands outside the marked territory and taking advantage of this situation, Don Bosco got their equalizer with an Arun Panjge strike. At half time, both teams were at par. However, Kentauriance who were eager to notch a win, despite being down to 6 men scored early in the form of Shalok again to regain their lead. The match concluded 2-1 in favour on Kentauriance FC.

In the other matches, Eagles FC were handed a defeat by the in form K- Blues as Alister scored the winner and only goal of the match.

Next up, SSBM FC were challenged by Warriors United, and both the teams put up a resistant fight for 1-1 draw. The goals were scored by Imran Solkar and Raul Lewis.

In the last Under- 17 match, Goals R Us achieved a convincing 4-0 victory over the K- Greens. While Vedant got a hat trick against his name, Shardul also registered his name on the score sheet for one goal.

Under- 14

This demographic was off to a flying start as a penalty kicks decided the fate of the very first match between FFA and Don Bosco Red. The Bosco team won as the keeper managed to save 3 attempts while Lance Fernanades, Fabian Anthony and Aaron Ghatkar perfectly scored when it was their chance!

In the successive match, St. Joseph found it unable to break the defense of the Bandra Stars and eventually lost out to them 1-0, over a second half strike from Marwin.

Under the guidance of Coach Francisco, Galaxy Boyz A and B team both went on to win their respective encounters. The A team scored 3 goals to upset DPYA who scored none. Prince got the first one for his team while Aman put in the next couple of them.

The B team of Galaxy Boyz hammered down MVM All Stars with 4 goals to 0! Ethan and Om managed to shoot in one each while the striker Hriday got 2 goals for himself to ensure a comfortable win.

The Indian Striker winger Gyanendra Singh scored yet again to give his team a narrow 1-0 finish over the Legendary 10 boys.

All in all, the third day was overloaded with drama, action and surprises as penalties surfaced, cards were shown and yet it was where pure football talent was showcased.
