Nashik and Satara reproduce opening day heroics

It was the Satara and Nashik show once again in the Maharashtra Inter District Football Championship for Sub-Junior Boys in Nashik as the second round of matches were concluded on the second day of the week long tournament in Nashik. Satara followed up a 8-0 win in the first round with a 9-1 thrashing of Dhule in the second round. Hosts Nashik replicated their 5-0 win in the first round against Aurangabad in Round 2. Apart from Satara and Nashik, Sangli, Chandrapur, Hingoli, Gondia, Jalna and Ahmednagar advanced to the third round of the competition.

Satara started the day with goals galore as striker Yashvardan More bagged four goals, just a day after scoring a hat-trick in Satara’s opening day win. Adil Shiakh scored a brace, while Anurag Sawant and Dhananjay Kadam scored a goal apiece for Satara to continue their goal scoring form.

Hosts Nashik built on their dream tournament so far with a 5-0 win over Aurangabad. Om Fadtale lead Nashik’s goal scoring exploits with a double, as Bindusar, Rutig Ahirrao and Siddhesh Patil scored again in another easy win for Nashik.

Shaikh Faizan inspired Hingoli to a 4-0 victory over Nanded with a blistering hat-trick. Faizan’s hat-trick was the fourth one in the competition so far as youngsters like Shaikh Faizan provided a testimony to the talent present in Maharashtra’s ranks. Mohammed Shahebaz too got on the score sheet for Hingoli who displayed their prowess for scoring goals after a gritty performance in yesterday’s 1-0 win.

Earlier in the day, Sangli emerged victorious in a cracking encounter with Bhandara. Sangli\s Sadik Desai scored the two goals for his side in a 2-1 win over Bhandara who got on the score sheet through Kabir Limje. Chandrapur registered an identical 2-1 win over Washim thanks to goals from Mehul Sindram and a cracking winner from Vishal Perkawar who didn’t hesitate to portray his joy with a cartwheel celebration.

In the final game of the day, Jalna crushed Amravati 4-0 to advance to the third round of the competition. Top seeded teams like Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Kolhapur, Jalgaon, Beed, Nagpur and Akola will play their first game in the tournament on Saturday after getting a direct entry into the third round of the competition.
